DESCRIPTION:El Club de Grabado de Montevideo\, fue un colectivo artístico y un proyecto cultural que permitió la difusión de modelos estéticos novedosos y el disfrute directo de una obra original.\nMemoria Gráfica en el @museocabildo \n\n\n\nEl Club de Grabado de Montevideo (CGM) fue un colectivo artístico y un proyecto cultural que buscó difundir la técnica del grabado mediante la publicación de obras múltiples. El acceso a un ejemplar de una obra de arte por parte de diversos sectores de la sociedad cuestionaba el mito de la creación y la excepcionalidad del artista. A la vez\, permitía la difusión de modelos estéticos novedosos y el disfrute directo de una pieza original. \nLas obras que se exhiben\, formaron parte de las publicaciones mensuales que el CGM distribuía entre sus socios. La más antigua es un relieve de Susana Turiansky\, editado en agosto de 1953 y la más reciente es una pieza de arte digital impresa en offset de Gladys Afamado\, publicada en mayo de 1999. \nLa presente selección tiene un criterio amplio y abarcador. Se trata de obras editadas en distintos períodos\, realizadas por artistas\, mujeres y hombres\, nacionales y extranjeros\, que utilizaron diferentes técnicas y lenguajes. La visión es expansiva\, antes que monográfica. \nLa exposición de los grabados se organiza en torno a tres ejes temáticos: la mirada sobre el mundo del trabajo y de los sectores populares; la atención sobre el cuerpo\, los sentidos y el movimiento; y los impulsos por una búsqueda expresiva novedosa y/o experimental. \nLic. Las grabadoras del Club de Grabado de Montevideo \nAl explorar la producción y la actividad cultural del Club de Grabado de Montevideo (CGM)\, se advierte que se caracterizó\, desde sus inicios\, por una importante presencia femenina. Más de veinte mujeres artistas comprometidas con la difusión del grabado en Uruguay se vincularon a la institución.\nSu vinculación se produjo en diferentes momentos de la evolución del club. Un grupo formó parte del proceso fundacional y contribuyó a sentar las bases institucionales entre 1953 y 1959; otras se incorporaron durante el período de expansión y consolidación de los años sesenta y setenta; finalmente\, algunas se integraron en las últimas décadas de vida del CGM. \nSe involucraron en múltiples formas\, grados y espacios de participación: colaboraron en las ediciones mensuales\, almanaques y boletines; participaron en exposiciones y eventos culturales; integraron las comisiones de trabajo; impartieron cursos y talleres de grabado o se formaron en ellos; experimentaron con nuevas técnicas y trazaron redes de intercambio cultural.\nCrearon un repertorio amplio de grabados\, con diversas líneas temáticas vinculadas a la vida cotidiana de los sectores populares\, la cultura\, la feminidad\, el cuerpo y los procesos políticos y sociales en curso.  Para ello\, incursionaron en distintas técnicas y desplegaron múltiples recursos iconográficos. \nRescatar y atender a su obra constituye un paso fundamental para aproximarnos a los rasgos específicos del CGM y a su dinámica institucional\, así como para analizar las transformaciones de la gráfica y de la cultura uruguaya durante la segunda mitad del siglo XX\, desde la óptica de sus actores y considerando la agencia de las mujeres artistas. \nRomina Rodríguez\nProfesora de Historia – Investigadora
